How are the riders organised?
The ride has a large collecting ring and riders are organised into groups and allocated a half hour slot in which to turn up and start the ride
How can I be sure to I can ride with my friends?
When you enter the ride you must state if you are riding with friends, especially if you are entering individually. You must provide a group name and ensure all your entries use that same group name
When will I know my riding time and get my vehicle pass?
These are normally sent out by email to the email address you provide a week or two before the event
What happens when I enter?
You will receive a letter from us within 7-14 days by email confirming and accepting your entry. You will also have a few update newsletters. If you have entered on- line you will receive a separate payment confirmation by email from our merchant provider.
Where does the entry fee money go to?
100% goes to the selected charities for that year thanks to the sponsorship of SEIB Insurance who cover the infrastructure costs
How much does it cost to enter?
The entry fee is £35 per rider. Please also note sponsor money requirement below
Do I have to raise additional sponsor money?
A minimum sponsorship donation of £10 per rider is required on the day, this can be self funded or from anyone willing to sponsor you. We normally have prizes for the highest amounts raised.
Can I gift aid my sponsors?
No, the ride itself is not a charity so cannot collect gift aid
Can I get into Burghley Horse Trials as well?
Yes, you have to pay the pedestrian entry charge at a special gate, there is no car parking charge as you are parked in our special reserved area about 10 mins walk to the centre of the trials. If you want grandstand show jumping seats you need to buy these additionally on line off the horse trials website
What should I wear?
Safe riding hats must be worn, There is no dress code but request you are smartly dressed and turned out. Yard or club shirts are fine with jodphurs and safe riding boots.
What is the minimum age?
You need to be 5 or over. Under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult
Can the ride be walked with lead rein or for company?
Yes, the tracks are about 12K allow up to two hours to walk on foot and notify us when entering
Do I need vehicle pass?
Yes, tick the box if you require a pass. If not requested we assume you will be sharing transport
What facilities does the ride provide?
Paramedic and veterinary cover are on site. We also have refreshments, toilets and professional photographer. There is no farrier present.
How long is the ride?
Depending on how much of the cross country course we are allowed to ride, the full length varies between 10 – 12Km and normally takes 1.5 – 2.0 hrs
Can I do the fun run as well?
The SEIB Horseless Burghley Fun Run takes place at around 15.00 after the riders have left the track. Details are on the link from the top of the home page. Entering the ride does not enable you to do the fun run, entries are £10 per runner and should be made on line from the webpage
